Carrie
A year ago, my life changed, and my world was flipped upside down.
Everything I thought I knew was a lie, and just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did, and I lost hope.
The world moved on, and I was at a standstill.
I’d spent eleven months in a rehabilitation center, trapped against my will.
My body, mind, and soul changed.
The old Carrie was dead, and it was time to move on.
I left my former life behind forever.
When I ran, the last thing I expected was to be hunted.
Grayson
Red Snake Investigations was my lifeline, my sense of purpose.
After getting out of the military, bounty hunting was all I knew.
My team and I were the best, our reputation spotless, so when an old acquaintance from St. Louis asked me to find someone–Carrie Hale–I was hesitant.
She wasn’t a normal mark, but I took the job anyway.
I did my best to ignore the look of hopelessness in her eyes in her photo.
I knew the painful things she’d gone through, but I couldn’t help her–she was just a job.
I was a hunter, but the last thing I expected was to fall for my prey.

I received this book as and ARC and I immediately wanted to dive in based on the tropes and the teasers Brittany has been giving us. I’m so happy I did because I flew through this book in less than two days. Once I started it I was instantly hooked and I think Brittany can attest to this by the amount of messages I sent her while I was reading. My favorite thing about Greyson was his absolute fierce puppy dog learning to bark energy the SECOND he thought Carrie was in danger, and that’s all I’ve got to say. That man is far from a puppy dog.
Catch Me When I Fall by Brittany Ann is an emotionally charged and highly addictive novel that delves deep into the complexities of love, loss, and the journey of healing. Brittany crafts a compelling story that resonates with readers who appreciate character-driven narratives filled with raw emotion and genuine human connection.
The story follows Carrie who is grappling with losing her husband, finding out everything was a lie, and fleeing to a better life and her unexpected encounter with Greyson, a broody bounty hunter hired to bring her home but instead finds himself falling fast. Brittany Ann does a remarkable job portraying the turmoil and chaos of the past and how both Carrie and Greyson have to cope with secrets that haunt them.
What stands out in this novel is the author’s ability to balance the darker themes with moments of hope and redemption. The pace is fast and furious which allows you to fully immerse yourself in the characters’ world. Not a single part of this story was predictable enough for me to fully know what was coming next.
Overall, Catch Me When I Fall is a book that will leave you with so many questions and most likely your jaw on the floor. I can confidently say that this book is sitting in my top three reads for 2024.
